Standards

There are 2 sets of standards that play a central role in every website I build - web standards and my professional standards.

  1. Web Standards

Designing & building a website involves many different elements - but one of the most important facets to consider are web standards. These are agreed by the World Wide Web Consortium - W3C and without them you can forget about making a website accessible, contemporary & ultimately useable.

Every website I build incorporates semantic XHTML mark-up code, CSS for layout and presentation and all pages validated to W3C standards. This ensures speed of page rendering in the browser, cross browser compatibility & is essential if SEO (search engine optimisation) is to be maximised.

Applying web standards to the heart of the design process will make sure that your website is robust, modern & inclusive.

Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional Valid CSS!

  2. Professional Standards

I have worked in the creative industries for over 15 years, working both client and agency side. Having commissioned work myself, I have found the most important area is clear & regular communication between both parties. From the briefing process to the design & build, if there is a lack of strong communication throughout, the finished product will rarely meet expectations.

I bring this ethos to the freelance projects I take on. From brief to delivery I work closely with each client to make sure that expectations are exceeded rather than met.
